Knives Out is a 2019 American mystery film written, which follows a family gathering gone awry, after the family patriarch's death leads a master detective to investigate. The film features an ensemble cast, including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Toni Collette.

The Knives Out fandom mainly focuses on the three main characters of Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas), Ransom Drysdale (Chris Evans), Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig), most of the fandom stems from the actors' fans. This brings some controversy to the fandom, namely comments on the Tumblr tag about supporting "garbage characters" (namely Ransom Drysdale) more than the other two main characters.

Fanfiction is currently being posted to Tumblr, Archive of Our Own and Wattpad. Fanart and gifs have appeared mainly on Tumblr.

While the film did not produce any romantic interests for the main characters Ransom Drysdale, Benoit Blanc, and Marta Cabrera, various pairings for them have appeared, namely with each other: Ransom/Benoit, Ransom/Marta, and Benoit/Marta. However others have also appeared including Marta/Meg and Ransom/Reader. The only canon pairings of Linda/Richard and Walt/Donna which was introduced in the film often appear in fanworks as background pairings.

Common Tropes & Fanon

  • make you dirty, make me clean by neonheartbeat, Marta/Ransom, Hugh Ransom Drysdale has been in prison, serving a twenty year sentence. Marta Cabrera has been adjusting to her family's new life as millionaires, living in Harlan Thrombey's mansion. Unfortunately, Ransom is out on parole after only two years, and has no place else to go...
  • Kill and Run by unicornpoe Marta/Ransom, “I think I’m going to try to apologize to you," he said. "I just thought you should be prepared.” Or: Marta can't tell Ransom to go.
  • If I'm Haunting You, You Must Be Haunting Me by mardia, Marta/Ransom, It seems horribly fitting that when Marta’s soulbond arrives, it’s in the most absurdly ridiculous, horrible way imaginable. It involves the Thrombeys, so of course something that should be wonderful just ends up being terrible in the end.
